Veins.My veins make me sick.
Those translucent, hollow ropes of blood just beneath my skin.
They look still, yet I know that the thirsty machine that is my heart is sucking the straws dry and regurgitating this strange liquid into where it came from.
The fact that I can see them, shiny and blue beneath pale skin makes me uneasy.
The frothy red saliva of the machine that is my heart somehow makes me not dead, and the fact that the things that hold that saliva rest in such a shallow place make me realize just how mortal I am... Veins.
